Linda Faye Mitchell-Dancy was born October 13, 1955, to the late Alverlean Greathouse, in Clow, Arkansas.  She was the 6th of seven children.  Linda moved to Rogersville with her Aunt Maple Ingram and her family where she graduated from Lauderdale County High School in Rogersville, AL in 1974.  She was a graduate of Arkansas Baptist College in Little Rock, AR.  She received a BS degree in Social Work and was featured in Ebony Magazine as Queen of the Campus.

Linda was a member of Hartselle Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully on the Mother’s Board and worked on the janitorial staff.  She was a faithful worker in the church where her duties included but limited to cleaning, grounds maintenance, and keeping the building comfortable during the various seasons.  Over the years Linda worked on many jobs including fast food, grocery store, nursing home, and poultry factory.

She married Calvin Dancy November 24, 2012.  She was not blessed with any biological children but she claimed and loved all of her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, her step father, L.E. Greathouse, a sister, Susie Carol Chestnut, and a brother, John Blanchard, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, four sisters; Maxine Smith, Detroit, MI; Doris Dove (Willie), Clarece Kimble (Willie) both of Temple, TX; and Gloria Philpot of Crosby, TX; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.  Linda will truly be missed and she will always be in our hearts.
