Lloyd Trotter was born on June 14, 1953, in Yazoo City, Mississippi, to the late William Trotter and Ruby Lee Robinson. He departed this life on June 5, 2023, at Decatur Morgan Hospital in Decatur, Alabama.
Lloyd accepted Christ at an early age and was a devoted member of Wolfe Lake Church of Christ Holiness (U.S.A.), under the leadership of the late Reverend Willie Jenkins in Yazoo City, Mississippi.
Lloyd and his 10 siblings grew up on the Trotter Family Farm. He graduated from Humphrey County High School in Belzoni, Mississippi in 1972. During his junior and senior year, he drove a school bus for the rural students in the area. He was offered an academic scholarship from Tennessee State University, but he declined.
Lloyd was a hardworking man. After graduating, he moved to Chicago, Illinois and was employed at General Motors in LaGrange, Illinois where he was an active player on their basketball team. It was his left-handed jump shot that earned him the nickname “too sweet.” A name that also described his beautiful character. He later transferred to General Motors Saginaw/Delphi in Decatur, Alabama, where he retired after 34 years of service.
Lloyd was a dedicated and faithful member of Saint James Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America, where he was ordained as an Elder on December 15, 2019. He truly loved his pastor and Church family. Although he had some health problems and trials, his faith never wavered. He kept the faith, fought a good fight, and finished his course, Henceforth there is laid up for him a crown of righteousness.
Lloyd lived his life to the fullest. He enjoyed traveling, fishing with his buddies, and providing lawn care services for others. He played basketball, the game he loved, until he was 66 years old. Lloyd was a kindhearted man, who enjoyed helping others in any way he could. His smile and sense of humor bought nothing but joy to everyone around him. Lloyd was also conscious of his attire and was known for being a well-dressed man. He enjoyed attending social event and conversing with his friends. He will truly be missed by his friends and family.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory: his daughters, Lisa (Harry) James and LaCristal (Otis) Atchison all of Decatur; his grandchildren, Brandon James, Christopher Harper, and Kristina Harper; his brothers, William Trotter, Stanley Trotter, Arthur Trotter, George Trotter, and Randy Trotter; his sisters, Jean Fletcher, Alberta Stallworth, Barbara Baugh, and Annie Williamson; his sisters-in-law, Loni Trotter, and Gwen Trotter; his step- children and step-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
