Private Graveside Service for Mr. MacRay Adams Williams, Sr., 70 of Decatur Alabama will be 11:00 am Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Decatur City Cemetery.
MacRay “Big Mac” or “Cool Ray” Williams, Sr. was born December 22, 1949 in Decatur, Alabama to the late Rev. Jimmie Williams, Sr. and Larlie B. Cooper Williams. He departed this life on April 14, 2020 at his residence in Decatur with his loving son, MacRay Adams Williams, Jr. by his side.
MacRay was a veteran of the United States Army that served in the Vietnam War. He earned the National Defense Services Medal (NDSM), the Vietnam Service Medal (VSM), the VN Cross of Gallantry w/Palm, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device 1 O/S Bar SPS M-16 while serving. The discipline and skills he learned while serving never left him, as friends and family will attest. He enjoyed truck driving and worked for several trucking companies after completing his military service including: Gordon Transportation, Deaton Truck Lines, Hannah Truck Line, Dixie Midwest, Premier Transportation, and White Oak Transportation. He enjoyed playing basketball, horse shoes, target practice, traveling, and visiting with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by: his loving and devoted wife Mollye A. Williams; parents, Rev. Jimmie Williams, Sr. and Larlie B. Williams; brothers, Charles Williams, III, George R. Williams, Willie D. Williams; sisters, Ethel L. Bridgeforth, Julia M. Williams, and Mary L. Strong.
Left to cherish his memory are five children; Treza L. Edwards (Joseph) Augusta, Georgia, MacRay A. Williams, Jr. (Terri), Stephanie L. Williams, Seddrick D. Williams (Christy), all of Decatur, Alabama and Jaquran A. Canada Birmingham, Alabama; brothers, Leon Williams (Bridget), Robert J. Williams, both of Decatur, Alabama, Jimmie Williams, Jr. and Roy B. Williams, both of Detroit, Michigan; sisters, Elizabeth A. Bazemore, Harriette F. Williams, both of Decatur, Alabama, Jeanette Collier, Hillsboro, Alabama, and Geraldine B. Lockwood of Detroit, Michigan; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one aunt Hazel Byrd of Town Creek, AL and one uncle Charles Williams of Decatur and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
