Graveside Service for Mr. Manfred A. Pettway, 51 of Decatur, Alabama will be 11:00 am Friday, April 23, 2021 at Sterrs Cemetery with the Reverend Jerry Baker officiating. Public viewing will be Thursday from 1:00 pm till 6:00 pm at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Manfred Ames Pettway was born on April 30, 1969 in Bridgeport, CT to the late Daniel and Martha Pettway. Manfred age 51 of Decatur, AL moved here to be closer to his family. Manfred was a blessing. He was the only son and brother. He departed this life on April 16, 2021 at Decatur Morgan Hospital in Decatur, AL.
Manfred attended William Samuel Johnson Elementary and attended Wilber Cross as his middle school. He attended Central High School, where he graduated with the Class of 1987. Manfred was so smart, mom and dad wished that he would attend college, but he was an adventurist. He played the saxophone in Central Bank where he got to travel, and he loved it. He not only loved music, but he loved watching all sports. His favorite sport was Nascar. Man loved his family and he was always fun to be around. He also loved the game show Jeopardy.
Manfred later had several jobs, but he loved his job with Cooperate Express. He was a supervisor.
Manfred was predeceased by his mother, Martha A. Pettway; father, Daniel Pettway; his nephew, James Oliver, Jr.
Manfred leaves to cherish his memory; two sisters, Lolita L. Pettway-Brown (Douglas) and Chero D. Pettway-Oliver (James); two nieces, Natasha M. Pettway and Savannah Pettway-Brown; two nephews, Cameron D. Oliver and Cramer V. Oliver; one great nephew, Isaiah J. Pettway; one great niece, Isabella; and a host of family and friends that he loved dearly.
