Margaret Lewis Obituary

A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Margaret Allen Lewis, 85 of Decatur, Alabama will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Edward Owens officiating. Inhumation will follow in Sterrs Cemetery. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service. Public viewing will be Monday from 1:00 PM till 6:00 PM at Reynolds Funeral Home..

Margaret Allen Lewis was born to the late Ernest Allen Sr. and Mary Curry Allen on July 29,1936 in Decatur, AL. She confessed hope in Christ at an early age. She was an active member until her health began to decline and upon her death was the oldest member of Shiloh MB Church remaining a member for 70 years.  Over the years she was a member of the Choir, Senior Missionary Society, Sunday School Teacher, and Nurses Ministry.  Mother Lewis departed this life on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at her residence.

Mother Lewis was a 1954 graduate of Lakeside High School and Calhoun Community College.  She was employed as a Nurse in ICU at Decatur General Hospital for 30 plus years. 

Mother Lewis, also known as “Gina” by her close friends and family had a beautiful personality.  She loved to laugh, listen to gospel music, spend time with family and especially with her great grand babies that gave her so much joy.  She truly was a woman of God and was sought after by many in her church family, immediate family, and friends for her godly wisdom and advice.

Mother Lewis was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe Lewis, brother Ernest Allen, Jr., sister Betty Jean Rogers, nephew Steven Ray Allen, and niece Patrice Harper.

Mother Margaret Lewis leaves to cherish her memories her children: Angela Cosey of Mobile, Tyree Lewis, Christal Lewis, and Kathy Lewis all of Decatur.  Step Sons: Steven (Glenda) Lewis and Jackie Lewis both of Huntsville; Brother-in-Law: John Lewis of Huntsville; Sisters-In-Law: Mattie Allen of Decatur, Juanita Turner of Cleveland, OH, Estella Lewis of Huntsville, and Josephine Curry of Grand Prairie, TX; Five Grandchildren: Justin Malone, Joshua Malone, Jessica Lewis, Jada Lewis, and Alexandria Lewis; Two Great grandchildren: Joshua Malone, Jr., and Kyrie Malone, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
