Marla Orr

Graveside Service for Ms. Marla Orr, 41 of Decatur, Alabama will be noon Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Sterrs Cemetery with Bishop Cary W. Orr officiating. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service. Ms. Orr passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Decatur Morgan- Decatur General Hospital. 

Marla Roshanna Orr was born November 7, 1981 in Decatur, Alabama to Mark Patterson and Paula Orr Jones. She departed this life on April 26, 2023 at Decatur Morgan Hospital in Decatur, Alabama.

Marla accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of True Faith Ministries.

Marla was educated in the Decatur City School System and attended Austin High School. She later pursued her career in caregiving by becoming a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant. She also managed several hotel chains in the Alabama region.

Marla had a deep love for her family and friends. Singing was her passion and that she did all too well. Marla always had a welcoming smile, a word of encouragement and a listening ear. She never met a stranger.

She was preceded in death by her father, Mark Patterson; grandparents, James & Earline Patterson and Paul Howard Orr; beloved aunt, Marian (Lady) Patterson; brother, Quincy Patterson; sister in love Danielle Cowan.

Marla leaves to cherish her love and memory:  Fred Cowan, her beloved companion of twenty-five years; their beloved son. Leemar Cowan and stepson, Braelyn Cowan; her mother Paula Jones; grandmother, Jewel Lessears; sisters, Shanetha Patterson; Monica Pearsall (Mark), Coretta Gholston, Aquanetta Jones, Julianne Cowan and Jasmine Cowan; brothers, Reggie Gholston, Roosevelt Chestnut, Jack Cowan (Vonda), Lee Cowan (Rashanda) and Curtis Cowan; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
