Graveside service celebrating the life of Mrs. Mary Ann Brown Shaw Jones, 68 of Decatur, Alabama will be noon Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Sterrs Cemetery with the Reverend Michael Jones officiating. Public viewing will be Wednesday from 1:30 PM till 6:00 PM at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Mary Ann was born December 1, 1953 in Decatur, Alabama to the late James Shaw Sr. and Alma Louise Brown. She transitioned and went to be with the Lord on March 31, 2022 at her residence in Decatur, Alabama.
She was educated in the Decatur City Schools and attended Lakeside High School. She was employed for many years at Sunbridge Nursing Home as a nursing assistant.
She was baptized at an early age at David Temple P.B. Church. She later united with St. James C.P. Church in America where she was a member of the missionary society, sang in the choir and was a faithful participant of the Love Faith Prayer Line. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mary loved her family, people, her church and enjoyed with enthusiasm helping those in need especially in the nursing homes.
Mary was preceded in death by: her parents; first husband, Jimmy Mack Jones, Jr; children, Deborah Jones, Wayne “Big Pappa” Jones; and brothers, James Peter Shaw, Wendell Scott and brother in-law Lawrence Willie Jones.
Mrs. Jones is survived by: her husband, Hershell Johnson of Decatur; children, Angela Douglas (John) of Huntsville, Jim Mack Jones III. and Michael Jones both of Decatur; five grandchildren, Tavaris Jones who she raised as her son, Kierra Doughlas, Marshaun Jones, Zyrell Jones all of Decatur and Pietrae Barton of CA; siblings, Norma Shaw of Decatur, David Shaw of FL and Patricia Shaw of NY; aunts, Willie Lois Brown (Jimmie),Carrie Mae Holden (William Thomas), Easter Bibb and Teresa Burgess all of Decatur; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
