Funeral Service for Mrs. Mary Lee Brown, 85, of Decatur. Alabama will be noon Saturday at Flower Hill P.B. Church with Rev. Dewayne Garth officiating. Inhumation will follow in Calvary Memorial Gardens. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service. Public viewing will be Friday, at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Mary Lee Garrett Brown, affectionately called "Mae-Mae" by her family and friends, was born on October 10, 1936 in Limestone County, AL to the late Delia Johnson and Hubert Garrett, Sr of Limestone County, AL.
Mary accepted Christ at an early age and attended Union Hill Church in Huntsville, AL. Mary graduated from Council High School in Huntsville, AL. During high school she met and married Leroy Green, Sr. in 1954, during that time she was working at Prestolite Hotel and also at the Huntsville Airport. She later married the late Oneal Brown in the early 70's and moved to Jacksonville, FL. In 1976 she worked as a cashier at the Jiffy Store for over 30 years until she retired in 1998. “May Lee", as she was also lovingly called, moved back to Decatur after retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; children, Mutton, John Freeman, Jr, and Leroy Green.
She leaves to cherish her memory; her children, Nathaniel Green (Jessica) of Portland, OR, Harriet H. Green, Huntsville, AL, Jacqueline Garrett, Decatur, Nicole Evans (Tyrone) and Delia Brown both of Decatur; three stepchildren, in Jackonville, FL; bonus goddaughter, Shoneka Davis Terrell; bonus son, Willie Evans; 28 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren; 21 great great grandchildren; a sister, JoAnn Toney of Huntsville, AL, bonus sisters, Asieren Boyce, Nahsville, TN, Wynetta Turner, and Joyce Eggleston both of Huntsville, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousin and friends, special friends, Eddie Marshall, Louise Goodman and Carol Park.
