Mary L (Kelley) Rather

Funeral Service for Mrs. Mary L. Rather 95, Decatur, AL will be 1:30PM Sunday at St. Peter M.B. Church with the Rev. Jerry Baker officiating. Inhumation will follow in Rather Cemetery. The body will lie in repose 30 minutes prior to service.

Public viewing will be Saturday from 1:00PM until 4:00PM at Reynolds Funeral Home. Mrs. Rather transitioned December 15, 2024, at her residence.  

Mrs. Mary L. Rather was born, April 10, 1929 to the late Willie and Mattie Kelley. She departed this life on December 15, 2024 at 7:30 a.m. at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, and all of her siblings, Willie and Mattie Kelley; all of her siblings, Willie B. Kelley, John Will Kelley, Ezell Bass and Joseph Kelley. Mary confessed hope in Christ at an early age. She joined St. Peter M.B. Church in 1953.  She served faithfully on the Usher Board for over 40 years. She and some of her family loved to eat and cook together every Sunday. She was married to the late Willie Lee Rather.

She leaves to cherish her memories; a loving and devoted daughter, Linda Anders; a loving and devoted son, Richard Rather (Callie); a daughter, Kimberly Harris (Kunta); five grandkids and three special that she raised, Veronda Turner, Richard Rather, Jr. and Michael (Maria) Rather;  11 great great grandkids; 13 great great-great grandkids; a special cousin, Mary Kelley; a special son, Greg King, Jr.; Special thanks to Aveanna;
