Nancy L. McCoy was born June 23, 1948, in Richmond, Indiana to the late James and Regina Jerrell. She departed this life on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Decatur Morgan Hospital in Decatur, Alabama.
She confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined Greater Second Baptist Church in Richmond, Indiana. She was united in marriage to the late John W McCoy Sr for 52 years.
Nancy leaves to cherish her memories: one son, John W. McCoy, Jr. of Athens, Alabama; two daughters, Regina McCoy of Decatur, Alabama and Cynthia Harris of Town Creek, Alabama, her sister Edith Tevis, three brothers Robert (Jean) Sanders, Dan Jerrell, Eric (Brenda) Jerrell all of Richmond Indiana of Richmond, Indiana and sister-in-law Emma McCoy of Town Creek, Alabama. Grandchildren, Steven (Kesha) Harris, Shania Allen, Tiana McCoy, Anthony D. McCoy, Tallas McCoy, Ariana McCoy, John W. McCoy, III, Tonorreya, Tarashia Jones. A special grandson Anthony D. McCoy who stuck by his Granny side through thick and thin. Special daughter-in-law Barbara McCoy Steele and special son-in-law Tony Jones, and special niece Pam McCoy and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Regina Jerrell, one sister Janet Wright, one brother James (Junie) Jerrell.
Nancy loved life and lived it to the fullest. You could always stop by her home and smell her cooking up some good food and playing her music. She never met a stranger that she couldn’t have a great conversation with. Nancy’s contagious and affection laugh will be missed by all that knew and loved her. She was a special mother and granny too many.

The public may view Mrs. McCoy on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Reynolds Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 5th, 2025, at Community Family Funeral Home. Family and friends may arrive to the funeral home one hour prior to the service for calling hours. Burial will follow at Earlham Cemetery.
