Graveside Services for Mrs. Pearlean Draper Jones, 86, of Decatur, Alabama will be noon, Friday May 10, 2024, at Calvary Memorial Gardens with Rev. Leo Fuqua officiating. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service. Public viewing will be Thursday May 9, 2024, from 1:00PM until 5:00PM at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Pearlean Draper Jones was born on July 8, 1937 in Lawrence County, AL to the late Walter and Marylean Woods Draper. She married the love of her life, St. Clair Jones Jr. in 1957 and to this union of 67 years, six children were born.
She accepted Christ at the age of 12 and placed membership at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Courtland, AL. She later moved her membership to New Jerusalem Primitive Baptist Church in Hillsboro, AL. She served there faithfully for many years on the mother’s board until her health declined. Most recently she communed with the Minor Hill Church with the Rev. Leo Fuqua.
Mrs. Jones worked at Wayne Farms and later retired from Hardees. She was faithful to her family, friends and took pride in raising her children and grandchildren. She was affectionately known to her family as “Madea”.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; a sister, Annie Gooding; brothers-in-law, Clinton “Joe” Jones, Tommie Lee Gooding, Thomas “Freddy” Jones; sisters-in-law, Bessie Lee Jones, Annie Turner, Bernice McKinney; nephews, Hilton “Bobby” Wilson, Steve Draper, Walter Draper; grandson, Roger Jones Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory to a devoted, loving husband, St Clair Jones Jr, one daughter, Carol Bailey (Leo), five sons, Larry Jones (Emma), Drite Jones (Lanail), Roger Jones (Ara), all of Decatur, Tommy Dee Jones (Margie) of Huntsville, AL and Donell Jones (Erica) of Mobile, AL; one sister, Eva “Doll” Newman Draper of Courtland, AL; one sister-in-law, Annie Catherine Jones of Decatur; 18 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends..
