Percy Campbell Obituary

Funeral Service for Mr. Percy Campbell, 70, of Decatur, AL will be 11:00AM Saturday at Progressive Christian Outreach Ministries with Apostle Arthur L. Warrior officiating. Inhumation will follow in Sterrs Cemetery. Mr. Campbell will lie in repose one hour prior to service.

Public viewing will be Friday from 1:00PM until 5:00PM at Reynolds Funeral Home.

Percy Lavon Campbell was born in Lawrence County, Alabama on October 21, 1955, to the late Richard Campbell, Sr., and Mildred Woods Campbell. Percy passed away peacefully at his home on January 31, 2026, in Decatur, Alabama. Percy was a proud graduate of Hazelwood High School in Town Creek, Alabama.

Percy was a faithful member of Progressive Christian Outreach Ministry in Decatur, Alabama, under the leadership of Apostle Arthur L. Warrior. Percy as his family referred him as the “head deacon.” His faithfulness to his church was making sure the doors were open every Sunday morning and lending a hand to anyone who needed it. He was formerly employed by 3M in Decatur for many years as a Chemical Operator.

Percy married the love of his life, Marilyn Caudle Campbell April 21, 1995, in Decatur, Alabama. Percy loved yard work, football, and fishing. If you mention the word “ducks” you would hear Percy making duck noise through the house.

Percy was preceded in death by his: mother. Mildred Woods Jones; father, Richard Campbell, Sr.; stepfather, Cleveland Jones; stepdaughter, Katrina Caudle; maternal grandmother, Mary Smith Sheppard; maternal great grandparents, Sendie and Simon Green; paternal grandparents, George and Susie Campbell; sister, Joyce Lomnick; and sister-in-law, Patricia Bond.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a devoted and loving wife of 30 years, Marilyn Caudle Campbell; sons, Gregory( Tracy) Mitchell and Annarree Mitchell; stepchildren, Deanta Orr and Brandon Orr; mother-in-law, Sallie Caudle; brothers, Richard (Marva) Campbell, Jr., and Ernest Campbell; sisters, Christine Campbell and Gyronia Jones; brother-in-law, Gregory Caudle and Gary Peoples; sister-in-law, Vivian Treese and Freda Caudle; uncle, James“Houseman” Looney; Moes Jones, Jr.; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
