A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Queen Esta Swoope-Boglin, 80 of Courtland, Alabama will be 1:00 PM Friday at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church and inhumation in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service. Public viewing will be Thursday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Queen Esta Swoope-Boglin was born on Friday, May 9, 1941 in Courtland, Alabama. She was the third child and first daughter born to the late Purcell and Susie (Seals) Swoope.
Queen was baptized at an early age and became a member of Pleasant Grove MB Church in Courtland, Alabama.
She graduated from Central High School in Courtland and attended Alabama State University and Calhoun Community College. She worked for the Mayor of North Courtland for many years before her retirement. She often spoke of how much she enjoyed the work. Queen had a love for the community of Courtland.
Queen was preceded in death by two brothers, Purcell Swoope Jr., Richard Swoope and one sister Carolyn Swoope-Troupe.
Queen leaves to mourn her passing:one daughter, Lisa Michelle Boglin-Aluqdah; two sons, Vincent Earl Boglin and Christopher Gary Swoope; five grandchildren, April Cherrell Boglin, Vincent Earl Boglin Jr., Christopher Gamal Swoope, Omar Gary Swoope, Tyjah Swoope Browning; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Dr. William (Gwen) Swoope; three sisters, Ida (Dale) Madlock, Ethel (Thomas) Brown, Victoria Hall and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
