Funeral Service for Mr. Reginald O. Owens, 66 of Florence, Alabama and formerly of Moulton will be 1:00PM Thursday at Freeman Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. Timothy Perryman officiating. Inhumation will follow in Moulton Memory Gardens. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service. Public viewing will be Wednesday from 1:00PM until 5:00PM at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Reginald Osmund Owens was born on January 5, 1958 to the late Levert Owens and Emma Ruth Carter Owens in Moulton, AL. He departed this life on January 23, 2024 at his residence in Florence, Alabama.
He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Freeman Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as chairman of the Deacon Board, a Sunday School Teacher, a Treasurer, and was a member of the Men’s Choir. He organized the church Annual Friends and Family Day. He represented the church in The American Cancer Association Relay for Life Event.
He graduated from Lawrence County High School in Moulton, AL. After graduating from high school, he attended the University of North Alabama and later transferred to the University of Alabama where he received a bachelor’s degree in business. He worked at the Lurleen B. Wallace Developmental Center in Decatur, AL, the Department of Human Resources in Birmingham, AL and Alabama Medicaid Agency. He retired from the State of Alabama after 36 years and one month of service.
Reginald enjoyed watching TV and was a long-time follower of The Young and The Restless. He loved sports and enjoyed attending, Baseball, Basketball and Football games. He was an avid and dedicated fan of the University of Alabama Football Team.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Talmadge Owens and Ozzivelt Owens. He leaves to cherish his memory; one son, Michael Brian Owens of Kansas City, MO; two sisters, Carmen Millender of Evergreen, AL, Jacqueline (Jerome) Cockrell of Tuscaloosa, AL; one brother, Leotis Owens of Moulton, AL; uncle, Blanton (Wilma) Owens of Mequon, WS; sister-in-law, Bernadita Owens of New York, NY; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives; and a special friend, Phyllis Nickerson of Birmingham, AL.
