Ronald Paxton Matthews

Graveside Service for Mr. Ronald Paxton “Romp” Matthews, 54 of Decatur, Alabama will noon Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Sterrs Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. George Franklin officiating. Public viewing will be Friday, 1:00 pm-5:00 pm at Reynolds Funeral Home.

Ronald Paxton Matthews was born September 9,1966, in Decatur, Alabama to the late John Micheal Matthews (Mary) and Willie Mae Ricks.  He departed this  life on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at Decatur Morgan Hospital, in Decatur, AL. 

He was preceded in death by three infant children; his mother, Willie Mae Ricks and father John Mike Matthews; sister, Felicia Stovall; grandparents, Isabelle and William Langford, Annie Matthews and  Fate Woodruff; nephew, Amari Deloney.

He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Union Grove P.B. Church. He graduated from East Lawrence in 1985. He has worked at National Packaging Company.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a devoted and loving wife of 30 years, Angila Faye Matthews of Decatur; one daughter, Breanna Matthews (Kaleb) of Decatur, AL; four sisters, Jacqueline (Eric) Matthews-Moore, Christy Matthews (Wylinzey) both of Decatur, AL, Melissa Matthews (Kelcey) of Chattanooga, TN, Latasha Matthews of Atlanta, GA; two brothers, Darren Langford of Decatur, AL; Jammie Smith of Hillsboro, AL; a loving step-mother, Mary Matthews; step-father, Leon Ricks of Moulton, AL; a devoted uncle, Earl Matthews (Gladys);  aunts, Lois Saxton (Clarence), Shelia Iyobebe and Margaret Langford; uncles, Ed Cable (Veronica), Connie Gholston; great aunt, Louvenia Pickett; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends;
