A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Rosalind Yvonne Willis Whitfield-Goodwin, 71 of Decatur, Alabama will be 2:00 PM Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Reynolds Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Gardens of Memory. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral. Public viewing will be Friday from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the funeral home.
Rosalind Yvonne (Willis) Whitfield Goodwin was born May 20, 1953 in Birmingham, AL to the union of the late Charles M. & Dollie Mae Chisom Willis. She was the 6th of 7 children. She departed this life on June 1, 2024.
She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Macedonia Christian Church in Oxmoor, AL
She attended Wenonah High School and graduated in the Class of 1971. She also attended Lawson State College, where she earned her business degree and graduated in the Class of 1974.
Rosalind was employed by General Motors, where she retired with several years of dedicated service until her retirement.
She met the love of her life, Oscar Goodwin, Jr. in 1985. Together they enjoyed life to the fullest. Although she had no natural children of her own, she was a mother figure and auntie to many!
Rosalind had a warm and caring spirit, and a heart of gold! She was known for the “sweet notes” that she sent to her family and friends on special occasions to encourage or just to say that she loved them.
Rosalind was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Charles Willis; sisters, Juliette Smith and Barbara Willis.
Rosalind leaves to cherish her precious memory; her loving husband, Oscar Goodwin, Jr. of Decatur, AL; sisters, Henrietta Brown of Long Beach, CA, Sharon Tate of Inkster, MI and Edna (Clarence) Willis of Birmingham, AL; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Mrs. Whitfield-Goodwin transitioned on June 1, 2024 at Decatur Health and Rehabilitation Center.
