Sammie Lee Driskell

 Mr. Sammie Lee Driskell, 48 of Decatur, Alabama transitioned on Monday, October 11, 2021 at the Decatur General Campus of Decatur Morgan Hospital. Public viewing will be Friday October 15, 2021 from 1pm until 5:00 PM and the family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM in the Reynolds Funeral Home Chapel. 

Mr. Sammie Lee Driskell; also known as "Uncle Ape", was born May 17 1973 to the late Laura Ree Cheatom and Willie Lee Driskell in Huntsville, AL. 

Sammie attended Huntsville High School. He found Christ at an early age. Sammie was the true meaning of a loyal friend. He loved hard and loved everyone, even giving his last to anyone. He treated everyone as equal. Sammie fought a good fight until the end.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sammie and Savanah Cheatom; BL and Lehue Driskell; four aunts, Georgia Mae (Mac) Baker, Earma Witchard, Mattie Mae (Frank) Harris, Parlee (Melvin) Rogers; three uncles, Sammie Cheatom Jr. Earl Cheatom, Tokyo Cheatom; two stepbrothers,  Melvin and Elvin Cain; one great great nephew, Baby La'Alton Adale Dancy-Driskell.

Sammie leaves behind to cherish his memory: a very special friend and ex-wife, Courtney Zills; two step-daughters, Faith and Taylor Milam of Florence, AL; four sisters, Betty (Courtney) Driskell, Loure (Laron) Driskell-Owens of Decatur, Edna Coffman Moore of Athens, AL; Tammy Driskell of Limestone County, AL; four brothers, Clark (Clydis) Cheatom of Madison, AL, Kenneth (Shelia) Driskell of Decatur; Ronald Driskell of Huntsville, AL and Willie Driskell, Jr. of Decatur; one special sister-in-law, Janice Driskell of Madison, AL; two special people who he called sister and niece, Tawanna McCullough and Taylor McCullough of Nashville, TN and a host of niece, nephews, other relatives and friends.

And, as Sammie would always say to his family "Monkey Roll Call".
