Samuel White Obituary

Graveside Service for Mr. Samuel Ricky White, 70 of Huntsville, Alabama will be noon Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Sterrs Cemetery. Their will no public viewing

Mr. Samuel “Ricky” White was born in Decatur, Alabama on April 14, 1951 to the late Sam and Lucy White, and was reared by his grandparents, the late Willie and Ruth Mitchell. He departed this life peacefully October 8, 2021 at his home in Huntsville, Alabama.

Ricky accepted Christ at an early age and joined Garner Memorial C.M.E. Church. He would later join First Baptist Church of Huntsville. As a very young man, Ricky knew the importance of looking and feeling good about yourself. He was known for his sleek physique and his love for hats. He would spend every morning drinking coffee, then spraying his Cadillacs, making sure that they looked just as immaculate as he did.

Ricky graduated from Lakeside High School in 1969, enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1972 where he served proudly. He fondly spoke of the time he served in Fort Ord, California where he developed a love for serving his country as he was a proud veteran. He then went on to attend Tennessee State University. Ricky would later join the Bill Heard and Lynn Layton car dealerships as a car salesman, where he earned numerous accolades in the 20 years that he was employed. He also was a truck driver for Averitt Express. He was an avid Alabama, Lakers, Yankees, and Cowboys fan and often collected memorabilia from games shared with his son, Immanuel. In his retirement years, he enjoyed exercising daily, sitting in his reclining chair watching t.v., conversing with friends and family, and spending time with his son.

Ricky was preceded in death by: his dad, Sam White Jr.; mom, Lucy White; grandfather and grandmother, Willie and Ruth Mitchell; brothers, Earl Ellis and Michael White; two sisters, Sandra Faye Earley and Barbara White.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved son, Immanuel White and daughter, Jamila White; grandchildren, Jeremiah and Makynzie; sisters, Carmen Major, Kim Florence, Theresa White, Michelle White; brothers, James F. White (Kim), Shelton White, Houston White, Maurice Woodson, Adrian Woodson, and Andre Woodson; special friends, Ruby White and John Stevenson, nieces, nephews, other relatives, close neighbors, and friends.
