A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Sarah Darlene Wynn, 87 of Decatur, Alabama will be 1:00 pm Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Macedonia C.P. Church in America with Elder Theodore Bone officiating. Inhumation will follow in Decatur City Cemetery. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral. Public viewing will be Saturday from noon till 5:00 pm at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Livestream will be 15 minutes prior to funeral time.
On November 12, 2023, Mrs. Sarah Darlene Edmonds Wynn decided that she would go to glory to be with her Heavenly Father. He made the call and she decided to answer. She passed away at the age of 87 years old. Darlene was born on Wednesday April 22, 1936 to the late Viola Whirley Jolly and George Edmonds Sr. in Morgan County Alabama. She attended school in Decatur, Alabama. She accepted and confessed her life to Christ at an early age and united with St. James Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America.
Darlene was united in holy matrimony to the late Pleas Wynn Sr. and to that union six beautiful children were born: Suraya Wynn Cannon (Kenneth Sr.), Kathy Wynn Jackson (Russell), Royce Wynn (Annette), Thomas Wynn (Myra), Portia Wynn and Pleas Wynn Jr.
She was affectionately known as Granny D, Shorty, Ma, and grandmother. She will be remembered for her cooking, kind, and loving words, and always feeding someone. She was best known for having a home full of love and the mother of Church Street. Her strong love for God is what made her a strong pillar to her family and her Crosstown neighborhood. She spent her life as a loving homemaker dedicated to her family and community.
She was preceded in death by her: husband, parents; her three sisters, Lena Hurth Peebles, Annie Mae Crawford, and Rosie Lee Dobbins; one brother, Herman Rhodes; three stepsisters,Array Tatum, Mary F. Madry and Josephine Jefferson; two stepbrothers, the Reverend Gabe Jolly Sr and Charlie Jolly Jr.
Darlene leaves to cherish her memory: her six children, sixteen grandchildren Crystal, Corey (Shontez), Jamilah (Ronald Jr.), Jacqueline, Damion, Kenneth II, Torey (Samantha), Marcus, Tyler, Tericka, Kenyal, Brittany W. Brittany J., Tanishia, Wakeelah (Maurice), and Brea; 35 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren; two stepsisters , Estelle Lewis and Annie B. Woods and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and many friends; her bonus children were Tammy Aldridge, Rodney Garrett, Marcellus Green, Rodney Williams, Kent Taylor, Taja Payne and Nashanda Chairs.
