Sharon Denise Kirkland

Funeral Service for Ms. Sharon Denise Kirkland, 56 of Decatur, Alabama will be 11:00AM Wednesday July 9, 2025 at Christ Temple Holiness Church with Dr. Chinetha Baker officiating. Ms. Kirkland will lie in repose one hour prior to service. Public viewing will be Tuesday July 8, 2025 from 1:00PM until 5:00PM at Reynolds Funeral Home.  
 

Sharon Denise Kirkland was born October 9, 1968, to Frederick Kirkland and Shirley Mae Dykes in Cincinnati, Ohio. She attended Aiken High School and graduated with the class of 1987 in Cincinnati.

Sharon enjoyed spending time with her kids, especially her grandkids. She devoted her life to being the very best grandma she could be. She loved her CarMart coworkers and made a career in customer service. She also enjoyed family gatherings, shopping, and being a businesswoman (but mostly shopping). Sharon made sure that not only did she look her very best, but her clients as well as she was the proud owner of Sharon’s Hair Boutique.

On June 30, 2025, Sharon was reunited with her father in Christ. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Katie Mae Cowley; husband, Brian Cowley; mother, Shirley Mae Dykes; father, Frederick Kirkland; and grandparents Katie and Willie (Jack) Baker.

Sharon leaves behind: her children, Lauren Kirkland, Joshua (Shantrez) Kirkland, and Brian Cowley; grandchildren, Brandon, Korion, Jaydence, August, and Zoey; brother, Robert (Kalyani) Kirkland; sister, Brandi (Brandon) Williams; along with an abundance of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Sharon made a friend everywhere she ventured and instilled her name in her community. Her warmth, ability to light up a room, and unwavering love will be missed beyond measure.
