Shirley Ruth Hill

Funeral Service for Mrs. Shirley Ruth Hill, 67 of Decatur, AL will be 11:00AM Saturday January 4, 2025, at United Pentecostal Jubilee House of Prayer with Rev.Edward Franklin Officiating. Inhumation will follow in Sterrs Cemetery. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service.

Public viewing will be Friday from 1:00PM until 5:00PM at Reynolds Funeral Home. Mrs. Hill transitioned on December 25, 2024, at the Decatur General Campus of Decatur Morgan Hospital. 

Shirley Ruth Hill was born on February 4, 1957 to the late Mary Alice Bates and the late Levolia Hill. Shirley entered into eternal rest on December 25, 2024 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. Shirley accepted Christ at an early age and joined Apostolic Church of God where she was a faithful member.  She later joined New Greater St. Andrews Church of Grace and when her health begin to fail, she started to worship with the Rev. Edward Franklin until her death. Shirley better known as (Auntie) was a loving person. She had so many nieces and nephews of other people’s kids, is how she got that name. She loved dressing up no matter what was going on. Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Alie Bates, her father, Levolia Hill, her sister, Nellie (Vickie) White, stepsister, Tina Pickett. Shirley leaves to cherish her memory: her fiancée, David Maynard; her daughter, Ashya Hill Fennell (Andy) of Decatur; four sisters, Donna Williams, Lavon Minor, both of Decatur, Dora Hill True Love of Dothan, AL, Tonya Sykes (Algie) of Athens, AL; one stepsister, Charlotte Johnson; one brother, Elder Thomas Sykes (Katina); two stepbrothers, Pastor Willie Pickett and Enrico Pickett; two godchildren, Lavette Fennell and Skipper Petty; special friend, Julius Stanley Stovall,  also friends,  Derrick Sampson, Trina Frankin, Lora Hicks, Shirley King; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, cousins and other friends.
