Susie (Seals) Swoope

Mrs. Susie Seals Swoope, age 104,  of North Courtland, AL. passed away March 17, 2021 at home surrounded in love by caring family in Roswell, GA. 

Funeral  will be 12:00 Noon, Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Reynolds Funeral Home with the Reverend Robert Pearl officiating. Interment and committal services will be in Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Susie Seals Swoope was born on March 8, 1917, in Newbern, AL, the eldest child to Frank and Mamie Seals.

She confessed Christ at an early age and was a lifelong member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Courtland, AL. She served on the church’s Mother’s Board and held the distinction as the church’s oldest mother. She sang with the senior choir for many years and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star (Spring Creek Pride #542) since 1945.

She was United in Holy Matrimony to Percell Swoope, who preceded her in death. To this union, eight children were born; three children preceded her in death: Percell Swoope Jr., Richard Swoope, Carolyn  Swoope Troupe as well as her parents and nine siblings. 

She leaves to cherish her memory five children: Dr. William M. Swoope (Gwendolyn), Kansas City, MO, Queen Swoope Boglin, Courtland, AL, Ida Swoope Madlock (Dale), Kansas City, MO, Ethel Swoope Brown (Thomas), Roswell, GA, and Victoria Swoope Hall, Decatur, GA. She also leaves 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren,13 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, church members, and friends.
