Toni Lynette (Johnson) Brown

Services for Ms. Toni Johnson Brown, 60, of Decatur, Alabama will be Friday Noon, Friday at St. Andrew Church of Grace with Bishop Barry Strong officiating. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to viewing. Public viewing will be Thursday from 1:00PM until 6:00PM at Reynolds Funeral Home.   

Toni Lynette Brown was born June 5, 1962, in Chicago, IL to Lawrence Johnson Sr., and Yvonne Johnson Rhone. She departed this life on July 7, 2022 in Decatur, AL.

Toni graduated from Farragut High School and attended Malcom X College. Toni will always be known as a “legend” for her beautiful hair braiding. Her specialty was braiding men’s hair.  She will always be known as the “community mom” that loved her neighbors as well as her family, lifting up your spirits whenever you felt overwhelmed or just needed advice. She could be straight-forward with you and did not mind telling you how she felt, whether it hurt your feelings or not.  Her rays of sunshine and her unconditional love for her sons, Baji, Fred, Michael (“chicken leg”), and Avery, were her focus in life.

Toni was preceded in death by; her parents, niece, Kenra Potts; and nephews, Keyon Hill and Breon Gates.

She leaves to cherish her memory: four sons, Baji Johnson and Fred Dunigan both of Decatur, Michael Johnson (Aisha) of New Market, AL; and Avery Johnson of Decatur; 11 grandchildren; three sisters, Connie Johnson (Roderick) and Tina Potts (William) both of Decatur, Nina Perez (Roberto) of Belle Mina, AL; five brothers, Lamont Johnson (Sharon) and Larry Johnson (Yolanda) both of Chicago, IL, Michael Johnson, Darryl Johnson and Brian Johnson of Decatur; one uncle, William Richardson of Huntsville, AL; god-daughter, Deangdrea Moffatt of Chicago, IL; three special friends, Shirley Green of Memphis, TN, Kiesha Young of Decatur, and Cindy Pantel Jakson of Chicago, IL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
