Victor (Vic) D. Priest was born on September 16, 1958, to Charlie W. and Odra McKelvy Priest in Moulton, Alabama.  He departed this life Monday, February 10, 2020 at Lawrence Medical Center in Moulton, AL.

Vic was a 1976 graduate of Lawrence County High School where he earned four varsity letters - two in basketball and two as a pitcher on the baseball team.  He was known for his ability to break the press with excellent ball-handling skills and a smooth jumper that resulted in him averaging almost 20 points per game his senior season.  He also achieved a winning record as a pitcher his two years of varsity baseball.

After graduating high school, Vic attended UAB for a brief period after which he enlisted in the United States Army.  He served primarily in Europe as an anti-aircraft missile repairman from 1977 to 1992, during the cold war.  He was ultimately promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  During this time, he was awarded several Army Accommodations and Army Achievement Medals.  Two of his units were awarded Meritorious Unit Citations while he served with them.  After leaving military service, he was employed by the Lawrence County School System and most recently he was an active committed partner in his mother’s rehab helping her achieve speech and walking after a serious stroke.

Vic was life-long member of Smith Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.  He will be remembered as an excellent soldier, a great cook, and for his quick wit.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Odra Priest. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, India Priest, and his father, Charlie W. Priest, Sr., both of Moulton, Alabama; two brothers, Dr. Marlon (Leta) Priest of Birmingham, Alabama, and Charlie (Heather) Priest of Decatur, Georgia; nieces Bianca, Candice, Whitney, and Amelia; nephew Charles Franklin; and great-nephew Charlie Priest Link.
