William Alexander Humphrey was born on July 9, 1976, to the Reverend Charley Humphrey and Debra Lucille Branch Humphrey. He departed this life on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at Crestwood Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama.
William better known as “AL” was a loving and caring son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend. Al received his education in the Madison County School System. In his youth, Al played soccer and participated in the JROTC program at Buckhorn High School. After graduating he entered the workforce. He was employed as a Machine Operator and Welder at AC, Incorporated, in Huntsville for several years. Al also worked at Haven Comics Etc. and built a special rapport with customers. Haven Comics was truly “a haven” for Al, where he could do what he loved: read, buy, and sell comic books. While Al was an avid comic book collector, he was also an amazingly gifted artist who had a passion for drawing.
Al’s considerate spirit was exhibited in his actions toward his family and friends. He always made sure that his mother and father received the best gifts during the holidays and that his siblings received tokens of love from him as well. Al’s caring nature was also evident in way he cherished his nieces, Dasiah and Joy, and in the way he looked after his 103-year-old great-granduncle, Thomas “Honey” Baker.
Al was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted mother Debra L. Humphrey, his loving and praying father Elder Charley Humphrey III, one brother Charles Darnell Humphrey, one sister Megan Humphrey, aunts, uncles, and a host of cousins, and friends.
