A Celebration of Life for Mr. Willie C. Ashford, 70 of Decatur, Alabama will be noon Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Red Bank Missionary Baptist Church. Inhumation will follow in Midway Memorial Gardens. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral service. At the request of Mr. Ashford there will be no public viewing.
Willie C. Ashford was born on Tuesday, February 16, 1954, in Lawrence County, Alabama to Della Mae and the late Willie Daniel Ashford. He departed this life on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at his residence in Decatur, Alabama.
He confessed his life to Christ at an early age and joined Red bank Missionary Baptist
Church. Willie C. was a lover of all things including God, family, friends and horses. He really loved cooking and his favorite dish was called “In the Kitchen.” Willie C. loved children, even though he had only two, he claimed many along the way. Willie was known as “Daddy C,” “Daddy Bigtoe,” and “Uncle Pete.”
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving, beautiful wife, Kathy (King) Ashford of 40 wonderful years; two children, Twarkella Ashford of Hillsboro, AL and Troy (Lisa) King
of Decatur; his mother, Della Mae Ashford Courtland, AL; two grandchildren, Jamorio Tripp of Decatur, AL and JahLeesa (Anderson) Young of Madison, AL; five sisters, Jamiel (Henry) Billings of Courtland, AL, Leanna (Larry) Marshall, and Dorothy (Willie) King of Town Creek, AL, Queen Hampton and Ann Hampton of Decatur, AL; a brother, Bruce (Doris) Hampton of Decatur, AL; four sisters-in-law, Hattie King, Norma Ashford, Deborah King, Ella Cowley, all of Decatur,AL; three brothers-in-law, James (Louise) Grayson of Chattanooga, TN, Ronald (Curlie) King and Donald (Mildred) King of Decatur, AL; three aunts, Rebecca Hood of Red Bank, Irene Johnson of Tuscumbia, AL, and Sally Hood of Town Creek, AL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
