A Celebration of Life for Ms. Celestine Steele, 61 of Decatur, AL. will be noon Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Macedonia C.P. Church in America with Dr. G. Lynn Herring officiating and inhumation to follow in Decatur City Cemetery.  The body willl lie in repose one hour prior to funeral.  Public viewing will be Monday from 10-7 at Reynolds Funeral Home. Ms. Steele passed away on February 9, 2017 at Decatur Morgan Hospital-Decatur General Campus. 

Celestine Steele was born to Gunese Harris Steele and the late Wille J. Steele Sr. on July 17, 1955 in Lawrence County, Alabama.  She departed this life on February 9, 2017 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.

Celes, as she was called by all that knew her was very outspoken and was an exceptional cook.  She was loved by everyone and will always be known for that infectious smile.  She was educated in the Lawrence County School System and was a graduate of Courtland High School. She was a clerk at Payless Pharmacy for 17 years.

She was preceded in death by: her father, grandmother, Lucille Fletcher; brother, Hilton Steele; aunt, Rosie L. Hampton; and uncle William King.

She leaves to mourn and cherish her memory: a son, Keithan (Karnitha) Steele of Priceville; mother, Gunese Steele of Decatur; three grandchildren, Adonise Steele of Katy, TX, Keithan Steele Jr. and Kailan Steele both of Priceville; two brothers, Willie J.”Bull” Steele Jr. and Anthony Steele both of Decatur; two sisters, Angela (Jerome) Miller of Hillsboro and Jacquoline Hampton of Boston, MA; one loving goddaughter, Sharnay Taylor of Decatur; three aunts, Clara Bell Davis of Buffalo, NY, Roceil (Rodney) Carter and Johnnie Pearl (Randolph) McLin both of Decatur; three uncles, Percy Lee (Phyllis) King and Douglas King all of Gary, IN, James (Samella) Goines of Hillsboro; a very special niece, Shilan (Terry) Woods of Decatur; nieces, Martia Morrow of Decatur and Tresslin Echols of Moulton; two nephews, Antonio Sykes and Tyris Cooper both of Decatur, two god-grandchildren, Shaniya and Kimora; a very special cousin, Rashonda (Anthony) Thompson of Decatur and a host of other cousins, relatives and friends.

Flower attendants will be classmates, cousins and friends.  Pallbearers will be Melvin McDaniel Jr., William Montoya King, Michael Irvin, Rodney Hullett, Louis Bell and Clifford Scruggs.
