A Celebration of Life for  Mr. Charles E. Beason Sr., 69 of Hartselle, Alabama will be 11:00 AM, Thursday at St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Jerry Baker officiating and inhumation to follow in Hartselle Memory Gardens.  The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral .  Public viewing will be Wednesday from 10-7 at Reynolds Funeral Home.  Mr. Beason passed away on January 12, 2017 at Huntsville Hospital.

Charles Elliott Beason Sr. was born February 13, 1947 to the late Elliott and Lois James Beason in Birmingham (Burmmitt Heights), Alabama.  Charles transitioned this life peacefully with his loving and devoted wife, Edwina, by his side on January 12, 2017.

Over the years Charles was affectionately called Ba-Bro, Beason, Charlie, Dad, Daddy, Pops, DaDa, PaPa, Big Daddy, Bruhman, Doc and Hammer.

Charles accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Lily Baptist Church in Burmmitt Heights. He attended Ketona Elementary School.   Charles was an inquisitive, adventurous and fearless child with a great love for the outdoors and wildlife.  Many times he would pack a lunch and explore the woods and caves near his home with his friends and his loyal dog. The neighborhood pond that was so murky and snake infested was the fun place where Charles learned to swim and fish.  His love of the water would stay with him throughout his lifetime.

In 1965 Charles graduated from Hooper City High School and volunteered to serve in the United States Marine Corps.  His tour included traveling the Mediterranean and he would eventually return home with many fascinating stories that he took pride in sharing with family and friends.  While in the Marines, he attended Airborne School and Parachute Riggers School, but his proudest accomplishment was becoming a certified U. S. Navy Scuba Diver.  He would go on to receive numerous awards during his tour of duty. When Charles became bored with packing parachutes in Vietnam he asked to be transferred to the field to fight with the Reconnaissance Division.  He fought fearlessly until he was wounded earning a Purple Heart.

Within a few months of returning home with an honorable discharge Charles met his future wife, Edwina Rather at Alabama A & M College.  They married in 1970 and had two children, Kimberley Dionne and Charles, Jr.

Always wanting to improve himself, Charles worked at many companies.  Some of which were; Hayes Aircraft, Continental Trailways, and UPS in Birmingham until he received a promotion which relocated him to Hartselle, Alabama in 1978.  Later Charles worked for Builders Transport Trucking and his last employer Delphi Steering in Athens, Alabama where he retired in 2002.

Retirement left more time for his hobbies which included, hiking in Bankhead Forest, flying airplanes, painting, playing the flute and trombone, cruising in his trucks, taking his dogs for long walks in the woods, listening to music and hitting the road on his Harley with the King’s Distance Riders Motorcycle Club in Huntsville, Alabama until illness prevented him from participating.

Charles was a faithful member and deacon at St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church for many years and loved attending Sunday School and Bible Class.

Charles will be remembered as a great provider and protector of his family and friends, out spoken, a daredevil, one who never met a stranger and having an unforgettable personality.

His memory will be cherished by his loving wife of forty seven years, Edwina;  children, Katrinia (Billy) Weir of Calera, Alabama; Craig Steven Clarke of Birmingham, Alabama; Kimberley Dionne Beason (Eric Graham),  and Charles Elliott Beason, Jr. (Joneia Brown) of Harvest, Alabama;  grandchildren; Arri Ellyce Beason and Brandon Charles Horn,  sisters, Deloris Bryant of Lindenwold, New Jersey; Beatrice (Curtis) Ford of Birmingham, Alabama;  sisters-in-law, Judy Wallace and Joanne Renfroe of Decatur, Alabama; brother-in-law, Donald (Karen) Bailey of Decatur, Alabama;  goddaughter, Camisha Baugh of Decatur, Alabama; god family, Ramona Humphrey, Norma Fisher, Constance Drenon and Robert Humphrey and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
