Jeffella "Dutchie" Reedus, 89 of Courtland, Alabama passed away on January 8, 2017 at her residence.  A Celebration of Life will be noon, Friday at First Baptist Church in Courtland with Pastor Christopher  Neloms officiating and inhumation to follow in Calvary Memorial Gardens.  The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral. Public viewing will be Thursday from 10-7 at Reynolds Funeral Home.

Mother Jeff Ella Reedus was born May 24, 1927 in Lawrence County, AL, to the late Fester Reedus and Estella Hood Scruggs.  She departed this life on January 8, 2017 at her residence.

She accepted Christ at an early age and joined First M.B. Church here she remained a faithful member until her death.  She was a member of the Senior Choir for many years.  She later joined the Mother’s Board where she was a faithful and dedicated member until her death.

She worked in the Dietary Dept. at Courtland Hospital for several years. She also did home care for Alice Hudson and Billy Lou Green of Terry’s Truck Stop.

Mother Reedus is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Fester Reedus, Jr; sisters, Estella Swoopes, Mary Hawkins and Ellen Smith; two brothers-in-law, James Thomas Swoopes and George Smith; four grandchildren and one stepbrother, Sam Edward Scruggs, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory: six daughters, Claudia (Leo) Bolding, North Courtland, AL, Delois (Charles) Shorter, Freeport, IL, Amberlene (Rev. Don) Jones, Town Creek, AL, Louise Reedus, Madison, AL, Supporia Goode, North Courtland, AL and Linda (Wallace) Stanley, Courtland, AL; two sons, Marlon (Willodean) Muslims, North Courtland, AL and Edward (Carolyn) Reedus, Huntsville, AL; 32 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 12 great great-grandchildren.  She also leaves a special friend and neighbor, Jessie M. Fuqua, North Courtland; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons. Active Flower Bearers will be Granddaughters and Honorary Flower Bearers will be the Mothers.
