Funeral Service for Mrs. Jessie Mae Dillard will be 1:30 P.M., Sunday, June 5, 2011 at St. James Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America with The Reverend Michael Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Decatur City Cemetery. The body will lie in repose thirty minutes prior to funeral service.
Public Viewing will be Friday from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and Saturday from 11:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Jessie Mae Dillard was born February 27, 1934 in Decatur, Alabama to the late Josie Moore. Jessie Mae departed this life into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at her granddaughter’s (Tarolyn) residence in Athens, Alabama.
She was educated in the public school system. She was a homemaker. She confessed Christ early in her age and joined St. James Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she faithfully served on the Usher Board. She was also a member of The Elizabeth Chapter # 40 Order of Easter Star
She was preceded in death by her mother,her husband Foster Dillard, sister, Margaret Louis McMillian, brother, Charles Edwards Moore, a step-son, Roy Gains, a grandson, Joshua Johnson and a daughter-in-law, Lillian Jackson.
She leaves to cherish her memory, seven daughters; step daughter Camilla Ward (Willie), Decatur, Alabama, Anette Dillard, Decatur, Alabama, Wanda Horton (Timothy), Athens, Alabama, Cynthia Dillard, Dayton, Ohio, Margaret Tevis (Kenneth Ray), Dayton, Ohio, Peggy Dillard, Dayton, Ohio, Frances Johnson (NaJurl), Dayton, Ohio, and five sons; step son Frank Dillard, Decatur, Alabama, Jessie Jackson, Brooklyn, New York, Foster Dillard Jr., (Deloris) Athens, Alabama, Gary Dillard, Dayton, Ohio, Johnny Dillard (Sharon), Jacksonville, Florida, and a host of grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, family and devoted friends.
Flower Attendants and Pallbearers will be family and friends.
